School Supply Give-Away Successful

On Friday, August 5, Lt. Amanda was driving back from a week of learning at Olivet.  At the same time, volunteers at The Salvation Army were giving school supplies to children that would otherwise have nothing to begin their school year.  Melissa, the administrative assistant, took the lead on this project.  Some of the families that were helped were people that have never needed assistance in the past.  The day was successful, and 33 children were given a backpack full of supplies.

One mother was especially grateful.  She was a mother of six, four of them were going back to school in a couple weeks.  This mother was almost moved to tears as her kids were given the things they needed.  As a girl scout leader, the woman said that she would try to give back by signing her troupe up to ring bells at Christmas time.  We were just happy to see the smile on her face.
